Siltstone (12)

image
General Lithology:Siltstone
Description:Bedded siltstone and finer-grained miudstone were deposited as silt and mud on the deep-sea floor. The paler coarser beds were deposited by currents that locally formed ripples on the sea-floor. The darker , finer-grained mud settled quietly from the water. The layers were originally horizontal but have been tilted by tectonic movements.
